Benny Amón is a prominent and passionate classic jazz and New Orleans drummer and bandleader.

Benny lived full time in New Orleans from 2011-2021. In New Orleans, Benny performed regularly at Preservation Hall, Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro, The Palm Court Jazz Cafe, and aboard the Steamboat Natchez. He has toured the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden performing at jazz festivals and clubs including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, Festival international I LOVE JAZZ in Brazil, and the New Mexico Jazz Festival.

Benny currently resides in San Francisco, CA. Benny continues to pursue opportunities to perform, teach, and record with world class musicians.In the Bay Area he regularly leads his own band Benny Amóns New Orleans Pearls, as well as his trio that focuses on the music of the Ahmad Jamal trio.

Benny is currently or has been a member of many esteemed jazz bands through the years including Steve Pistorius & The Southern Syncopators, Dr. Michael White & The Original Liberty Jazz Band, Wendell Brunious, Orange Kellins Deluxe Orchestra, The New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra, The Palm Court Jazz Band, Preservation Hall All Stars, Duke Heitger’s Steamboat Stompers, Gregg Stafford’s Jazz Hounds, The Riverside Jazz Collective (which he co-led), The Kris Tokarski Trio, Tim Laughlin Trio and bands, Evan Christopher, Tom McDermott, Clint Bakers Cafe Borrone All Stars, and his own Benny Amon’s New Orleans Pearls.

Benny has released two records as a leader, Benny Amon’s New Orleans Pearls and The Riverside Jazz Collective’s, Stomp Off Let’s Go!
